If you are worried about security, use that [x] in the upper right corner and exit the game altogether.

No, but why go through an extra step when it's totally un-neccessary. In terms of security, it's you who were logged in and you who decide to logout; why woudlnt' it still be you right after you log out? What is the fear here?
If not changing the default "Logout" to mean log out of the character, ADD a "Switch character" or "Logout Character" option for those times (very often) you want to switch characters.

anet said it was a security issue and they should know
your analogy sucks
all you need is once to lose the account
if you are to lazy to swap characters go read a book

There is no security issue behind the suggestion. Someone was implying that the Logout function should remain the way it is for security reasons, which is hogwash.

that was me repeating what anet responded with when asked the same question
so if it is hogwash it is their hogwash
on the other hand if it actually made no difference they would have put it in at the start for our convenience
which they didnt even after repeated requests

/votes yes to this as it IS annoying to have to completely log out and then back in to switch characters. It seems to me at one time during the beta weekends we could do this.
I like the idea of a "character selection" option that was available to us once in game even better then going back to the character selection screen. Just a drop down menu that loads that character. No other options to create, or delete if that is a concern to others from someone accessing their game when they stepped away from the screen.

My analogy does not suck.
In a private home, security is a non issue. In an enviroment where people have access to your computer, i.e. roomates or in a computer center, the security risk IS the current system where people can see you typing your password over and over.
I thought this forum was for making suggestions to make the game better, not to defend existing mechanics with no good reason.

It's your hogwash too if you defend it. If the devs were perfect, then there would'n't be any need for a suggestion/feedback forum, would it. If the dev says yellow snow tastes good, would you eat it?

Typing your password over and over is bad, not only when people are looking over your shoulder but also bad because hackers can snoop the network trafic to get it, and key loggers will have a better chance to catch it. The current system is the higher security risk.

true but it is amazing how fast things go from i dont like it this way to any given reason for it is hogwash
also if you have a keylogger on your system i would be more worried about other things i type than a gw password
